Want to know more about us? Here at Where The Ribbon Ends we love to create wedding cakes and celebration cakes for customers across North Yorkshire. Based at our family run Jervaulx Abbey Tearooms, Carol, mum, opened in 1994. Daughters Gayle and Anna have always been involved and now bake over 100 different flavours of cakes, tray bakes and pastries and this is how our story began.
We are passionate about using local and high quality ingredients. Maintaining a high standard of food management we have been awarded a level 5, ‘Excellent’, by the Food Standards Agency.
During 2013 Gayle, living in york at the time, took some night class learning sugar craft and how to create sugar roses and never looked back. 2014, Gayle returned to the family run Tearooms and soon realised that bespoke cakes was her path, Where The Ribbon Ends officially began.
Mainly self taught and years of experience, Gayle has under taken some professional training across the country, learning new skills, and continues to love experimenting and learning new trends and techniques, wanting to develop her skills further and stay up to date. Every cake is bespoke to meet your requests, if you’re not sure what you want, we have plenty of ideas to help you!
Younger sister Anna returned to the family tearoom in 2010 and has been running it with mum, carol, ever since. Anna does all the baking for the Tearooms and also Where the Ribbon Ends. Edible hand painting is Anna’s speciality and passion, after a suggestion from Gayle to experiment a design on a cake. This suggestion has led into one of our newest and unique offerings.
Mum, Carol, created a range of free from products for the Tearooms and this has benefited our range of free from products that we can now offer. We are passionate about being able to offer something for all requirements, we take allergen advice seriously and proudly share our allergen advice ingredients list with your venue the week of your wedding.
In 2019 we were absolutely blown away to win a national award with the Wedding Industry Awards, which was based on previous clients feedback and also a real cake we had to drive over 300 miles to be judged on look and taste. Incredibly we also won nationally for 2020, making it two years running. We can’t thank each couple enough forsaking the time to fill in feedback forms and the incredible feedback we received.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our cakes and we believe in the cake not only looking great it but tasting great too. We love to talk about cake, we are very passionate and enthusiastic about what we do and are here to create the cake of your dreams.
