Here at Where The Ribbon Ends we love to create wedding cakes and celebration cakes for customers across North Yorkshire. Based at our family run Jervaulx Abbey Tearooms, Carol, Gayle and Anna bake over 100 different flavours of cakes, tray bakes and pastries. This is where our story began.
We use local and high quality ingredients, have been awarded a level 5, ‘Excellent’, by the Food Standards Agency.
In 2001 Gayle took a night class learning how to cover a cake in hand made sugar roses, and never looked back. In 2014, Gayle returned to the Tearooms and soon realised that bespoke cakes was her path, Where The Ribbon Ends officially began.
Mainly self taught, Gayle has under taken some professional training, and continues to love experimenting and learning, wanting to develop her skills further and stay up to date with trends. Every cake is made to your exact requirements – and if you’re not sure what you want, we have plenty of ideas to help you!
Younger sister Anna returned to the family tearoom in 2010 and has been running it with mum, carol, ever since. Anna does all the baking for the Tearooms and also Where the Ribbon Ends. Edible hand painting is Anna’s speciality and passion, after a suggestion from Gayle to experiment. This suggestion has led into one of our newest offerings.
Mum, Carol, created a range of free from products for the Tearooms and this has benefited our range of free from products that we can now offer.
In 2019 we were absolutely blown away to win a national award with the Wedding Industry Awards, which was based on previous clients feedback and also a real cake we had to drive over 300 miles to be judged on look and taste.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our cakes and we believe in the cake not only looking great it but tasting great too. We love to talk about cake, we are very passionate and enthusiastic about what we do and are here to create the cake of your dreams.
