baked in our professional commercial kitchen with recipes we have carefully developed over years of baking experience.
Our mother opened Jervaulx Abbey Tearooms in 1994, homebaking has always been at the heart of this business.  Baking every cake with the same passion because we grew up on cake and we have loved developing our own recipes over the years.  Even writing and creating our own recipe book.  Each tier of your cake can be a different flavour, offering a choice to your guests and below is a list of our award winning cake flavours which we have carefully developed and offer.

Whether it’s for your wedding cake or a celebration cake, it must look amazing but it must taste incredible too.

All our cakes are made using the highest quality ingredients including real butter, local free range eggs, Madagascan bourbon vanilla and real Belgian chocolate, local Coffee from Coffee Care in Skipton and more!  With a special mention about the jam, made locally by the award winning Rosebud Preserves, they are delicious.

Each cake is freshly baked to order ensuring your special cake is the best tasting cake possible.  We have over 26 years baking experience, from within our family run Tearooms which we pride ourselves on always obtaining a full 5 start food hygiene rating.
We take huge pride in our award winning cakes tasting as good as they look, we also provide your venue with a full list of ingredients including allergens within the week of your wedding.   Over the years we have gained so much experience with our customers in the Tearooms the importance of understanding exactly what you’re eating, especially if you have a intolerance or allergy.

Classic Vanilla

Madagascan vanilla sponge layered with vanilla buttercream and also Rosebuds raspberry or strawberry conserve

Zesty Lemon

Light zesty lemon sponge covered by a lemon syrup layered with lemon buttercream and lemon curd

White Chocolate &  Fresh Raspberry

White chocolate cake with fresh raspberries filled by a vanilla buttercream with RoseBuds raspberry jam and white chocolate ganache

Carrot & Coconut

Carrot and coconut cake with juicy sultanas with layers of vanilla butter cream.

Rich Real Belgian Chocolate

Moist rich Belgian chocolate cake layered with chocolate buttercream

Chocolate Orange

Light zesty chocolate orange sponge layered with chocolate orange buttercream


Rich Arabica coffee sponge with smooth lightly infused coffee buttercream, using local award winning coffee by Coffee Care, Skipton

Apricot, Orange and Ginger

Tangy apricot with fresh orange and stem ginger sponge filled with lightly orange flavoured buttercream and ginger conserve.


Fresh banana cake filled with a vanilla buttercream layered with sticky toffee sauce and milk chocolate chips

Red Velvet

An American classic – moist red sponge with a hint of vanilla and chocolate, filled with a vanilla bean buttercream and white chocolate ganache.  Using buttermilk in the recipe to create the beautiful velvet texture.


Smooth caramel cake layered with a rich chocolate icing and more caramel sauce

Zesty Lemon with fresh fruit

A fruity twist to our classic add either fresh blueberries or fresh raspberries.

Light lemon sponge soaked with lemon syrup layered with lemon buttercream and lemon curd

Ginger Beer Chocolate 

Spiced with real Ginger Beer a moist chocolate cake with a warm ginger taste to end filled with a ginger chocolate icing

Yorkshire Rhubarb, Orange and Stem Ginger

Locally grown rhubarb matched with zesty orange and warm spices of stem ginger filled with a Rhubarb and Ginger Jam and buttercream.  Only available in rhubarb season.

Bramble and Orange

Homegrown brambles (blackberries) and zesty Orange cake with a RoseBuds blackberry jam and vanilla buttercream.  Only available in bramble autumn season.

Mocca chocca

Rich Arabica coffee sponge smooth lightly infused with Coffee Cares award winning coffee and filled with a real Belgian chocolate buttercream

Rich Fruit (contains nuts & alcohol)

Whiskey soaked traditional fruit cake covered in marzipan.

Fruit cakes should be ordered at least 6 weeks in advance.

Free From Menu

our kitchen

Our kitchen does contain nuts and other allergens because of this if you or any of your guests have a specific dietary requirement, then please get in touch with us before ordering to discuss and confirm your requirements. We do offer free from gluten and dairy range but, however we do advise all our cakes are baked in a kitchen which does contain gluten and dairy.  With years of kitchen experience we take ever precaution to make sure no cross contamination happens within the kitchen.

Award winning cake flavours

delighted to win Deliciously Yorkshire best free from product with our Raspberry and Almond cake, free from gluten and dairy.

Alongside offering gluten free tiers of cake, we also offer options if there are only a few guests with special dietary requirements which we would advise complementing the main cake with free from mini cake or cupcakes which can be decorated to match the main cake, and if you wish, can be displayed alongside your wedding cake to avoid those guests feeling left out.  Not only cake, we can also make some of our Favours free from gluten, including cupcakes, donuts, biscuits and macaroons.

Catering for vegan, gluten, dairy, and nut free allergy requirements. In our kitchen we have a separate area in which we bake these products, to try an avoid cross contamination but please note we handle allergens in our kitchen.

Is your business registered with the local council for food hygiene purposes?

Yes, all our cakes are baked at Jervaux Abbey Tearooms our kitchen has been inspected to the satisfaction of Food and Safety.   Therefore, we are very proud to have been awarded 5 Stars in the current Food Hygiene Rating Scheme, maintained for 26 years.  Experience and knowledge is invaluable, especially on your wedding day.
