How do I order a cake?

We recommend a full tasting and consultation for all wedding cake orders to discuss your requirements. please send us a message to arrange this, we will invite you to our tearooms and bakery and we will discuss your cake requirements and sample of of our flavours of cake.

For birthday cakes, christening cakes, corporate cakes and cookies,please give us a call or send us an email.

Need a cake but have no idea what sort of design!

Panic not!  Part of my job is to dicuss with you to get the cake of your dreams – even if when you start off you don’t quite know what that dream is!  I’m happy to make suggestions and work with you to try to give you some ideas, or you can view my full portfolio for inspiration!

How much will a wedding cake be?

All of our wedding cakes and celebration cakes are bespoke designed and therefore the prices vary widely depending on size and,level of detail of decoration.  Please get in touch via the contact us page for a quote.

How can I pay for my wedding cake? do i need to pay a deposit?

I cash or direct bank transfer. A 50% non-refundable and non-transferable deposit will be required to secure your booking, and the remains balance 5 weeks before your wedding date.

Do you do wedding favours?

yes we offer a range of wedding favours. we offer iced cookies, cupcake and macaroons, please see our images for examples and see our wedding cake page for prices

What size cake do we need to serve all of our guests?

If you tell me approximately how many guests you with to serve I can work out the correct size needed , and whether you want to serve the cake for dessert, which will require a larger portion.

Do you deliver the wedding cake for us?

As part of our service we provide is the safe delivery and set up of your cake to your venue on your wedding day at an agreed time. Depending on where the venue is located this will either be included in the cost of your cake or a fee will be charged to cover mileage and time if the venue is further afield.

Do you provide cake stands?

Cake stands are not included in the cost of the cake.  In the case of wedding cakes, some venues can supply a cake stand – you should check with your wedding planner or with the venue direct.

We have a large selection of pedestal glass stands, cupcake towers etc that are available for hire for a small charge of £15, with a sercurity deposit of £50 depending on availability – please ask for details.  A damages deposit will also be required. Stands must be returned undamaged and within 3 days after your wedding date then the security deposit will be returned.

How do I care for my cake?

On collection the cake needs to be put in the foot well or boot of the car, please drive with caution when you have a cake on board.

Our cakes do not like being put in the refrigerator! Once you have received the cake, you must store it in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. You can refrigerate or freeze cakes once they have been cut to preserve them. If you would like to keep any decorations such as sugar flowers or figurines, remove them from the cake and store in air tight container preferably with some anti-moisture crystals.

How do we choose the design of our cake?

The size of the cake will depend on the number of guests you need to cater for. When designing your cake, you need to consider the style and theme of the occasion and the personality of the individual(s) for whom the cake is being made. Photographs, magazine clippings, stationery, etc. can all help when it comes to designing the cake.

With regards to wedding cakes, it’s certainly a good idea to bring along any of the above to your consultation together with colour swatches and pictures of flowers and pieces of fabric so we can incorporate one or more of the elements into your wedding cake.

What about cakes for those with nut or other allergies? Do you offer Gluten free cakes?

Our kitchen does contain nuts and other allergies. If you or any of your guests have a specific dietary requirement, then please get in touch with me before ordering to discuss your requirements. We do offer free from gluten, all our cakes are baked in a kitchen which does contain gluten. We do provide gluten free cakes, but if there are only one or two guests with special dietary requirements I would advise supplementing the main cake with a gluten free mini cake or cupcakes which can be decorated to match the main cake, and if you wish, can be displayed alongside your wedding cake to avoid those guests feeling left out

We can cater for gluten, dairy, and nut free allergy requirements. we have a separate area in our bakery to try an avoid cross contamination but please note we handle all the above in our kitchen.

What flavours do you offer?

We offer a great choice of flavours and fillings for you to choose from. each tier of your cake can be a different flavour. here isa list of flavours we offer. If you have any particular flavour in mind that is not there, please let us know, I’m sure we can bake it.

Whatever your special occasion, your special cake will look amazing but it must taste incredible too. All our cakes are made using the highest quality ingredients including real butter, free range eggs, Madagascan bourbon vanilla and Belgian chocolate, coco and more!

Each cake is freshly baked to order ensuring your special cake is the best tasting cake possible.

Classic Vanilla

Madagascan vanilla sponge layered with vanilla buttercream and raspberry or strawberry conserve

Zesty Lemon

Light lemon sponge soaked with lemon syrup layered with lemon buttercream and lemon curd

Rich Chocolate

Moist rich Belgian chocolate cake layered with chocolate buttercream

White Chocolate & Raspberry

White chocolate and fresh raspberry sponge filled with vanilla buttercream, raspberry conserve and white chocolate ganache

Chocolate Orange

Light chocolate orange sponge layered with chocolate orange buttercream


Rich Arabica coffee sponge with smooth lightly infused coffee buttercream

Apricot, Orange and Ginger

Tangy apricot, orange and ginger sponge filled with lightly orange flavoured buttercream and ginger conserve.


Fresh banana loaf filled with a vanilla buttercream, sticky toffee sauce and milk chocolate chips

Red Velvet

An American classic – moist red sponge with a hint of chocolate, filled with a vanilla bean buttercream and white chocolate ganache. 

Carrot & Coconut

Carrot and coconut cake layered with vanilla butter cream.

Rich Fruit (contains nuts & alcohol)

Whiskey soaked traditional fruit cake covered in marzipan.

Fruit cakes should be ordered at least 6 weeks in advance.

Is your business registered with the local council for food hygiene purposes?

Yes, all our cakes are baked at Jervaux Abbey Tearooms our kitchen has been inspected to the satisfaction of the Food and Safety.  we are very proud to have been awarded 5 Stars in the current Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.
